Nissan Australia has teased an image of the upcoming 2021 Navara, a facelift of the existing truck that will see it take on a more aggressive style that matches its US counterparts.
Kept in shadow, just like the original teaser from May this year, the image from Nissan Australia is at least sharper and shows a little more detail, especially when lightened in a photo editing package.
It joins images leaked at FormaCar to provide us with the best view yet of what the 2021 Nissan Navara will look like. While the large chrome grille is the highlight, especially as it stretches up and over the leading edge of the bonnet, the quad-LED headlights with distinctive twin-blade daytime running lights will allow the new Navara to stand out from its competitors.
A second truck photographed shows the Navara with a matt black grille and solid-looking nudge bar and skid plate. Badged as Frontier (the name the Navara gets in South America) it shows an uprated model that is unlikely to make it to the UK. However, Nissan’s association with Arctic Trucks is expected to continue, leading to another Navara AT32.
Potentially much more than a cosmetic facelift, there is talk that the modifications made by Daimler to create the Mercedes-Benz X-Class might make it onto the Navara. Already one of the better riding pickup trucks, this would enhance its on-road ability without any detriment to its workhorse status.
The 2021 Nissan Navara is expected to be revealed in full in Australia on 5 November. UK pricing and availability is to be confirmed, but expect the new model to arrive on these shores in time for Easter.
