Legendary converter Arctic Trucks has taken the new Toyota Hilux and made it tougher with its ATU pack, upgrading the pickup truck to meet enhanced mobility demands from commercial and lifestyle users.
Ground clearance is increased, with improved articulation and both approach and departure angles, thanks to a specially-developed Arctic Trucks Bilstein performance suspension system and an upgraded AT wheel and tyre package.
The optimised and elevated suspension features upgraded springs, dampers and shackles that have been extended by 40mm at the front, and 30mm at the rear. Satin black 17-inch AT steel wheels are fitted with upgraded BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain tyres, with KM3 Mud-Terrain tyres available as a no-cost option.
The lower doors and tailgate are presented in matte black, highlighting the Hilux as a special arctic Trucks variant, while also offering additional protection tot he bodywork. Protection is improved further with enlarged and strengthened mudguards front and rear.
Versatility is also improved by the addition of a two-inch rear multifunction receiver hitch, enabling quick and easy fitment and removal of tow balls, winches, bike carriers, and any other suitable accessories.
The overall package gives the Hilux enhanced off-road clearance and capabilities, with improved control and mobility over challenging terrain, without compromising the smooth on-road handling.
The complete package as pictured above includes aluminium front underbody armour, bodywork modifications for additional clearance, and a full-size AT spare wheel with matching BFGoodrich tyre.
Backed by an Arctic Trucks Certificate of Authenticity and Toyota’s own five-year / 100,000-mile warranty, an ATU conversion can be fitted to new or used pickups by Arctic Trucks for £4,795.
Arctic Trucks will happily exchange your money for further upgrades, including complete underbody armour that covers the gearbox, transfer case, AdBlue and fuel tanks (£1039) or a grille-mounted 25-inch Vision X 12 LED light bar (£887).
The rendering at the top of the page includes the optional matte black ET05 alloy wheels. Fitted with BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain or KM3 Mud-Terrain tyres, and including a matching spare wheel, this adds £886. Extended side steps in satin aluminium with rubberised grips can be fitted for £692.
Finally, those needing to attack varying terrain will be pleased to see that an onboard 12v compressor is available, including both a 5.5m high-pressure hose with gauge and a tyre deflator. For £855, this could be an essential addition.
